Just far too funny for words

This is from an article about the religious fanaticism that some of our leaders hold to. It's an interesting article, but that's not why I'm posting it. I had never heard of the Amendment referenced below, but given it's purpose, I couldn't have thought of a better name for it if I'd tried. Perhaps these two representatives should avoid co-authoring legislation in the future - it certainly doesn't help their case...

Mr DeLay (who is also the co-author of the marvellously-named DeLay-Doolittle Amendment, postponing campaign finance reforms)....

Obviously an intelligent dude, that George. While the term "rapture" has absolutely no biblical basis, let's assume that George is right in his numbers and claims. Let's say that everyone who claims to be born-again Christians truly are what they claim. According to George's statistics, in the US, "several million people have succumbed to an extraordinary delusion." He later mentions that in 2000, a shockingly huge number of Americans were deported from Israel for trying to explode the old temple. Let's see. . .it was an incredible three, to be exact. So, convervatively (please forgive my profanity), let's assume that only one million Americans are "deluded." That means that a whopping .0003% of American fundamentalist Christians are a HUGE threat to our security. I am shivering. Frankly, I would encourage George and anyone else to read the biblical claims themselves. They are not all that shocking. By the way, every democrat and republican president in my lifetime has explicitly claimed to be among this deluded mass of fundamentalists. This includes Bill Clinton.
